Govange by Unique Eunice Wines
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Q: What makes your wines taste different from other fruit wines?
A: a) rich soil, b) excellent climate, c) exotic fruits, and d) skillful blends.
Govange Wines are Jamaican. Jamaica is known as “Land of Wood and Water.” Govange wines are unique, delectable, and trendy because the fruits are cultivated 1) in rich and interchanging Jamaican soils of bauxite, or limestone, 2) in an environment blessed with the Caribbean Sea breeze and 3) in the country-side where sunshine is regularly interspersed with showers of warm rain. The fruits are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers. Tannins, citrus acids, herbs and spices are skillfully balanced in the process.
2. Q: Are your wines fortified?
A: No, our wines are produced from scratch – they are fermented.
3. Q: At what point do you cut off fermentation?
A: To maintain high quality flavors, and also foster healthy living, we allow our wines to gradually ferment out by repeated clarifying and fining; however, minimal fermentation is retained, allowing still wines to remain fresh and tantalizing in the process.
4. Q: Are the particles at bottom of some wine bottles normal?
A: Yes, depending on the fruit type, you may find some in the wine. These are minimal sediments of fruit/yeast that keep the wine alive.
5. Q: Are the sediments at bottom harmful?
A: No, they are present because our wines are naturally fined. We aim for the preservation of
good health by not utilizing the commonly used chemical fining agents on the market.
6. Q: What is the best way to chill a bottle of Govange?
A: By not shaking the bottle before chilling; by keeping the bottle upright in an ice-bucket or upright in your refrigerator.
7. Q: To what percentage do you gage the alcohol?
A: We gage alcohol content between 12% and 16%.
8. Q: What types of wines are Govange wines?
A: They are full-bodied, social wines to be enjoyed as aperitif, table or dessert wines.
9. Q: Do your wines drink well at room-temperature?
A. Yes, because the fruits are grown in very warm temperatures. The medium or sweet categories may also be enjoyed ‘on ice’ without the loss of aroma or delicious taste.
10. Q: Do fruit wines have the same shelf- life as grape wines?
A: The shelf-life depends on the preservation method(s) used. Govange wines are for the health-conscious; these wines are naturally preserved by way of pasteurization, and by masterfully balancing organically grown herbs, tannins, and spices in the wine. This artful mixing, we believe, is the reason people, who normally have headaches after drinking wine, complain of none. Our opaque wine bottles are an added plus in sustaining the life of our wines.
11. Q: How long does the maturation process take before bottling?
A: After meticulous testing, blending, and natural fining for approximately two years, the wines are ready
to be bottled.
